Undercover Boss : How Well Do You Know Your Business

16 April, 2010

This is a fair warning to all employers and employees of any company. Be very aware of what you say to co-workers as they may turn out to be the President of your company. Chris McCann, President of 1-800-FLOWERS.com took on several entry-level positions in the company to see what kind of things he could learn and how employees were being treated on “Undercover Boss”.

Chris McCann’s brother, Jim McCann, is the CEO of the company, but because he is featured on many of the commercials for 1-800-FLOWERS.com, Chris posed as a scruffy-faced, unemployed house painter on CBS’ “Undercover Boss” to experience the life of the entry-level employee.

You don’t find too many CEOs or Presidents working on the front lines to see what it’s like working for their own company. Chris McCann learned that 1-800-FLOWERS.com needs to connect better with their workers in order for them to provide the best quality and connection with their customers. A happy worker actually does make a happier customer, because they actually want to provide top customer service for others if they’re treated right. It might be great for all CEOs to realize this in order to help their companies succeed.

You can catch episodes of “Undercover Boss” on one of many great DISH packages.
