Sundance Film Festival Heats Up Park City | Celebs and Fans Chill in Quaint Utah Ski Town
While the terms quaint and casual typically define Park City, Utah, every January the town transforms into a major celebrity event.
The Sundance Film Festival, originally started by actor Robert Redford, now attracts exceptional film premiers from around the globe, an endless parade of stars, and countless fans that hope to get a glimpse of their favorite famous folks.
Films such as "Cyrus" (created by brothers Mark and Jay Duplass) and the short, "My Invisible Friend" are creating buzz amongst impressed viewers, however; the well-financed film, "The Runaways" seems to be dominating Sundance reviews. Is that because it's any good? Maybe not. It's more likely because they have a really big advertising budget. The movie stars Dakota Fanning and Twilight's Kristen Stewart. Personally, I have a tough time believing that a feature length movie about Joan Jett (no offense, Joan) could be all that compelling.
Be sure to watch the Sundance Film channel with your DISH Network packages; all of the entertainment without the crowds (or the cold).
If you happen to be attending the event, you're sure to notice some newsworthy publicity stunts along with all the film and celeb fanfare. Owner of the NBA development team, the Utah Flash, angered crowds with an implied appearance by basketball super star Michael Jordan. (Jordan was, of course, a no-show).
Jon Gosselin attempted to drag out his inexplicable 15 minutes of fame by wandering the streets with girlfriend of the moment, Morgan Christie. Utah writer Kristen Watkins had friends and fans walking Main Street on Friday night with bags over their heads, advertising her upcoming book (a collection of comedic dating horror stories), "Don't Forget the Pepper Spray." Maybe Gosselin and Stewart ought to have gotten in on that one? It would have been the ideal opportunity for Stewart to disprove her critics.
Sundance always offers plenty of entertainment, whether it's on the big screen or on the streets. For those who prefer to get their movies at home, DISH Network TV always offers a great selection!
