Jeff Daniels Poised to Star in New HBO Pilot
Rumor has it that Jeff Daniels is nearing a deal with cable television giant HBO to star in a TV pilot. The show is currently being developed by Aaron Sorkin, the Oscar winning screenwriter behind 'The Social Network'. The show, if talks are finalized, would feature Daniels as the host of his own cable television new show. The show follows the entire production of the show and would follow him and his staff in front of the camera and behind it.
This would be Daniels first regular television series role if ultimately given the job. He has previously starred in 'Speed', 'The Squid and the Whale' and the box office hit 'Dumb and Dumber'. He has also starred in on-stage productions and even received a Tony nomination in 2009 for his role in 'God of Carnage'.
This is Sorkins first cable TV project. He has previously worked on primetime television shows including ABC's 'Sports Night' and NBC's 'The West Wing'. It has been reported that Sorkin got many of his ideas for the new show by spending time researching the MSNBC shows of Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews.
There is no word yet on when production for the new show will begin or when the pilot will air on HBO. However, when the show does premiere, which will likely be sometime in 2012, it will be available to all pay-TV subscribers including DISH Network customers.

'Game of Thrones' to Premiere on HBO
'Game of Thrones', a fantasy television series set in the Middle Ages, is scheduled to premiere on HBO on DISH Network in the United States on April 17. The series will premiere on Sky Atlantic in the U.K on April 18 and in Spain on May 9. It is expected to debut sometime in April in the rest of Europe.
The television series has been highly anticipated by fantasy lovers all over the world since it was first announced in 2009. The show is based on a series of novels by George R. R. Martin called 'A Song of Ice and Fire'. The television series is expected to follow multiple storylines of the book series very closely.
The series is set in the fictitious land of Westeros, a land where "summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime." The main plot line of the series centers on many noble families who all long for control of the Iron Throne. The books often have dark undertones and depict in detail the often violent struggles that occur as these families try to gain control of the country.
The television depiction of the books has been called "The Sopranos in Middle-Earth" by many people in the media because of its dramatic content, dark undertones and fantasy setting. 'Game of Thrones' is the first undertaking of its kind at HBO and it reportedly cost them more than $5 million just to film the pilot.
The series is filmed on location in Northern Ireland, Malt and Morocco and stars actors Mark Addy and Alfie Allen, among many others.
