Eco-Conscious Consumers Turn to Green Products and Home Entertainment with DISH Network
According to CNET News, the recent consumer electronics show featured an impressive array of green gadgetry for the consumer market.
For those interested in creating an eco-friendly atmosphere at home, smart plugs are a fascinating new invention. How do they work? These plugs eliminate stand-by power drawn from home electronics when they are not in use. What else is new? Australia-based Embertec showed off prototypes of power strips designed for PCs and home entertainment systems, where the power strip shuts off peripherals after a set amount of time. The HiSaver, which is available now to consumers or businesses, uses a motion sensor or a pre-set function to turn off stand-by power to peripherals.
Green-conscious consumers are also cutting back on their unnecessary consumption of fossil fuels. This often includes ideas for reducing time on the road and eliminating excessive driving. Naturally, at-home entertainment is an option that helps to keep the entire family out of their vehicles.

Big Love Puts a Pretty Face on Polygamy | HBO Hit Series Returns Sunday Jan 10
HBO's hit series, Big Love, returns to the air waves and its anxiously awaiting fans this coming Sunday, January 10.
The show has recieved copious amounts of attention for its compelling storylines, Oscar-worthy acting (producer Tom Hanks is truly blessed with an incredibly talented cast), courageous coverage of the topic of plural marriage and its ability to put a pretty face on polygamy.
While the program doesn't sugar coat the realities of polygamist sects (last season delved into the matter of child brides and the abuse of under aged girls), it nonetheless makes the idea of plural marriage look far more attractive than most folks in modern day society might have ever imagined.
Hubby Bill (played by veteran actor Bill Paxton) recieved a calling to live the principle after years of monogamous marriage to first wife, Barb (Jean Triplehorn). Enter second wife Nicolette Grant, played brilliantly by Chloe Sevigny, an actress whose talent and range seem limitless. Third wife Marjean was barely legal when she joined the crew as the family babysitter. Actress Ginnifer Goodwin looks more like someone who'd appear in a 'Girls Gone Wild' video than any polygamist wife, but how many common viewers could the show draw in if the spouses looked like they'd just hopped off of an ox cart? (Rhetorical question. Answer; not many).
Though the family's relative financial comfort (each wife and their kids have their own house, adjacent to the other wives) and the sister wives' congenitality (they generally get along better than seems plausible) may be quite a departure from the typcial polygamist reality, the program does a great job of keeping fans enthralled and giving critics something to talk about.
Tune into HBO on DISH Network TV this Sunday night and see what you think. Love it or hate it, you're sure to get a big dose of original entertainment.
Redskins Hire Shanahan | Mike Shanahan Set To Take Over As Redskins Head Coach
Washington Redskins owner, Daniel Snyder, really only has himself to blame for the current state of affairs with his team. That is to say, they suck and he’s mostly the reason why. Fortunately, Snyder just pulled the trigger on the best move he’s ever made as an owner.
Mike Shanahan, summarily dismissed from the Denver Broncos a couple of seasons ago, is arguably one of the best coaches not coaching in the NFL. Alongside former Colts coach, Tony Dungy, and former Steelers coach, Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan is at the top of every short list in the NFL. Today he’s off the short list and in the catbird seat in the nation’s capital. I think the Washington Redskins just got a whole lot better, and the landscape of the NFC East Division, which includes the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants, just got a whole lot more interesting.
Catch all the NFL action, including the newly-helmed Washington Redskins, all season long on ESPN, Fox Television, and CBS Sports on DISH Network. What are you waiting for? Take advantage of great deals and promotions right now and bring the NFL into your house with the #1 provider in premium home television programming, DISH Network!
Actress Brittany Murphy Dies At The Young Age Of 32
Actress Brittany Murphy has died at the young age of 32. There has been speculation that Murphy, known for her roles as the punk-gone-popular girl in Clueless and with Eminem in 8 Mile, died of cardiac arrest, but it has not been confirmed by the L.A. Coroner.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said a 911 call was made at 8:00 a.m. from the Los Angeles home of Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center.
Brittany Murphy was born in Atlanta and started acting at age 9, and by age 13, she had signed with a manager and began appearing in television commercials. From there, she starred in a few TV shows including "Murphy Brown" and "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" which led to her breakthrough film, Clueless, with Alicia Silverstone. She went on to appear in other movies and did voice work for animated programs such as 'King of the Hill' (she was the voice of Luanne Platter). You catch entertaining reruns of her episodes on DISH Network TV.
"Today the world lost a little piece of sunshine" as quoted by Ashton Kutcher, who Murphy dated back in 2002. May she rest in peace.
