NBA Star Steve Nash In Hiding?

1 September, 2009

I don’t suffer from what ails NBA superstar Steve Nash. Wearing a bandanna and goggles in a deliberate attempt to disguise himself, Nash was immediately recognized when he stepped onto an outdoor basketball court in Beijing, China over the weekend.

I've shown up at family reunions, with a nametag on my shirt, and not been recognized.

It's no wonder he got busted; the Chinese are nuts for basketball and love the NBA, and Nash is one of the most recognizable basketball players in the world. Maybe I should wear a disguise to my next family reunion. Nah…they'll just think I'm Steve Nash.

The Time Traveler's Wife

31 August, 2009

This movie is a good "girls night out" kind of movie. Unless your significant other likes chick flicks, I would advise against taking your honey to this movie.

Thank goodness this rare genetic anomaly that Eric Bana's character, Henry, has been so blessed with; or should we say cursed?doesn't actualy exist. The one woman that knows all about his time traveling has known, since she was a little girl, that she was destined to be with this man, despite the fact they both have no idea when he will disappear or reappear. Now that's one dedicated woman. Some may say she's stupid, but how can you deny your true love?

MLB Pennant Chase Heats Up

31 August, 2009

I love baseball. Got hats to prove it. I'm not, however, the constant fan I was in my youth.

As a kid I devoured sports pages, compiling dossiers on every player. I had the time. I admire anyone today who follows baseball over the 162-game season. It takes resolve and patience. Not my long suits.

What I do follow, admittedly less admirable, is the MLB pennant chase and the post-season. There's no shortage of tension and talent. I wear mittens for the sake of my fingernails. Track my baseball coverage from now until the final pitch in October, and I'll show you what bandwagon really means.

Colts Carry On Without Dungy

31 August, 2009

Are Colts fans concerned about the team’s performance now that Coach Tony Dungy has stepped down from the helm? If they have faith in Peyton Manning, they shouldn’t be.

Everyone’s favorite QB Peyton Manning has expressed great optimism about his team’s ability to forge successfully ahead without Dungy’s direction from the sideline. While their former coach will be greatly missed, Manning points out that Tony’s presence and influence will still be felt, and seems truly confident in Coach Caldwell’s principles.

Along with a good number of loyal NFL fans, Peyton is slightly curious about Dungy’s decision to go the broadcasting route. Nonetheless, it will be nice to see his familiar face on Sundays (even if it’s not passing on winning directives to the Colts).

The Broncos Have Issues

31 August, 2009

Anyone who has paid attention to the NFL thus far, knows that the Denver Broncos are in a world of hurt right now. After trading a disgruntled Jay Cutler to the Bears a few months ago, it seems as though they have another superstar malcontent causing problems.

Star wide receiver, Brandon Marshall was suspended for the rest of the pre season for what the team has called “conduct detrimental to the team”, which means that Marshall was caught on video acting like a spoiled child during practice last week, and the Broncos coaching staff doesn’t want to put up with it anymore. All I can say is, that it's going to be a long year for any Bronco fans out there. Don't expect much, and maybe you won't be so disappointed.
