ABC's Off the Map To Be A Hit?
Each January, television networks launch new dramas and comedy series, hoping to overcome the odds and launch the next Grey's Anatomy or 30 Rock. However, the odds are highly against them and many shows are cancelled after just a few episodes.
Will ABC's highly-anticipated new drama Off the Map beat the odds and live to see a second season? Well, the premise of the show seems promising. The show centers on young doctors who flee personal demons in America to start new lives working in an understaffed medical clinic deep in the jungles of South America.
Surely enough, these doctors will face life or death medical emergencies, spend plenty of time sun tanning and maybe even hookup with a local or two. All of which is sure to keep viewers from Cincinnati to Buffalo glued to their seats.
Filmed on location in Hawaii, Off the Map stars a host of relatively unknown actors including Valerie Cruz, Martin Henderson and Rachelle Lefevre. The show is brought to you by executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Besty Beers and creator Jenna Bans, all of whom worked on the popular series Grey's Anatomy.
Perhaps Off the Map will be just what ABC's doctor ordered. Maybe it will be crash and burn in the first episode. But why not give Off the Map a chance? Maybe you will surprise yourself and make Off the Map part of your weekly television viewing lineup.
Even if you are not into exotic locales and third world medicine, DISH Network features many different HD packages with countless programming options. Surely there is a show out there that will suit both your interests and your schedule.
Off the Map is available on DISH Network on ABC. It premiers on Wednesday, January 12th at 10/9c.
