Why DISH Beats DirecTV

19 July, 2011

Price

DISH Network offers 6 packages with prices that cost less than DIRECTV's basic package. DISH's basic package costs only 24.99 per month. In 2010, DIRECTV customers spent about 18% more money per month than DISH Network customers did.

TV Everywhere

For no extra monthly charge, DISH Network customers can watch TV on any smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC. While DIRECTV claims to offer the TV Everywhere service to their customers, only DISH allows you to watch live television (including news and live sports) and everything that is stored on your DVR right on any web-enabled device.

Customer Service

In 2011, DIRECTV received a rating of D+ from the Southern California Better Business Bureau, having received more than 40,000 customer complaints about them. They also do not offer 24-7 customer support. DISH Network, on the other hand, offers 24 hour a day customer service and was rated by the American Customer Satisfaction Index as having the best customer service in 2010 among all satellite and cable providers.

HD Availability

DIRECTV claims that they offer free HD for life, but they actually only offer this service with their most expensive packages. DISH, on the other hand, offers free HD for life with all of their America's Top packages, including their lower priced packages.
