For TV lovers, DISH is a great service. Not only does DISH provide all of your favorite channels, it recently came out with the Hopper™ Whole-Home HD DVR, which helps ensure users never miss a show. To complement their Hopper technology, DISH just released an iPad app that gives you full control over your DISH options and Hopper™ capabilities. Here is why the app is worth downloading.
Use Your iPad as the Remote
One of the best things about the iPad app is that it acts as a second remote. The standard DISH remote pops up on the iPad and users can zoom in to use the channel, guide and volume buttons, just as they would with the actual remote. This is great for those who don’t want to have to learn how to control multiple types of remotes in order to use their television. To exit, users simply kick off of the remote to close it and use the other features the app offers.
Single Search for Shows
DISH understands the annoyance of searching for one show on live TV, then switching to DVR, then looking on On Demand. The DISH Explorer app simplifies the process with its universal search capabilities, so you can find a show in anywhere on the Hopper with only one search.
Access Social Media
As part of the app’s second screen viewing capabilities, the app is directly linked to Facebook, Twitter and sports statistics. Users can find shows that are trending to keep up with the most popular programs or open a Tweet Deck on their iPad that streams what people are saying about your favorite shows. Sports fans will love the DISH Explorer app for its sports statistics that let you know what games are heating up and worth watching.
The app was released on January 7 and is already gaining popularity amongst users. It is a free downloadable app on iTunes, but only works if you are a current DISH customer. You must have the Hopper™ DVR and a home Wi-Fi connection. This app is made specifically for iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later.
There are a lot of second screen viewing apps out there, but few are directly related to the equipment your TV is using. Because this app is programed to work directly with DISH and the Hopper™, it is the best choice for a mobile app. The DISH Explorer app should be an automatic download for DISH subscribers.
Have you tried the new app yet? How could the DISH Explorer app improve your viewing experience?
